Blitz3D-V1.111 now available!
Hi,
Blitz3D V1.111 is now available!
This is a fairly juicy update that includes:
* Added UTF-8 Load/Save support.
* Fixed Undo/Redo.
* Fixed Block Tab/Untab.
* Fixed Find.
* Increased size of tool bar and default font heights.
* Added support for spaces in font names (enclose with "") in blitzide.prefs.
Why all this sudden attention? Well, I've been having to 'eat my own dogfood' recently while working on LibSGD, as I'm using Blitz3D as the main test/demo platform for now, and there were a few things obviously broken that really needed fixing. Some of these things were always broken, but some appear to have been broken simply by rebuilding with a more recent version of MFC. Plus I've added some UTF-8 support since there's been general interest in UTF-8 and LibSGD is supposed to support it. All in all it's been a pretty fun/productive Saturday!
I also tweaked the 'defaults' a bit. A combination of a) being 20 years older and b) no longer working on a 1024x768 monitor means I find the Blitz3D UI to be to be annoyingly small these days, so I beefed up the default font sizes a bit, and scaled the toolbar up a tad from 16px to 18px. I also added support for spaces in font names since my favourite font is 'Fira Code'. I consider adding Fire Code to the release as it's open source, but it's 300K+ so instead changed the default font to Consolas since the old default blitz font is fixed height and WAY too small IMO!
Minor changes really, but IMO they make Blitz3D look a teeny bit more modern. Please feel free to hack cfg/blitzide.prefs if you don't like the new look, simply overwriting it with your old blitzide.prefs should restore the UI.
Blitz3D is also now packaged as a plain zip to make it easier to manage, simply extract it whereever you want. Plus, it prevents windows complaining about 'untrusted software' the way it does with software that uses an installer. I think a few new users can find this confusing - I've certainly had a few emails about it.
Cheerio!
Mark

Wow thanks Mark! Hope all is well with you 😊
:)
Wow, it's 2024 and I got a Blitz3D Update Notification in my Email. I bought my copy in like 1998 or so. I hope there was some kind of 25th anniversary gala going on.
To this day I frequently use it, and sometimes people are impressed even by the content that tools export, that I wrote using Blitz3D. So they ask me. "Where did you get the tools to make this?" And I say "Oh I just wrote them. Using Blitz3D. The code just fell out of my sleeve."
Like this, I hope you don't mind:
Actually this looks unnecessarily dark on a bright background. Still. The hole island created by one F5 hit, saved as B3D and displayed under WebGL 2 in the Browser, reaching playable framerates (IMHO). Sorry about the pathetic show-off-attempt ^^
Thanks Mark for your great work! Whether Goto is really inevitable we'll then discuss at the 50th anniversary ^^
Amazing :D
Any chance we can have a disable bilinear texture filter flag?
Kevin added that to NG for me and all of my work uses low res textures in crisp retro style. I would love to try this all out but my games will look terrible
Apparently this has already been added:

Try using texture flag 1024 to disable bilinear filtering.
Ooh nice. Thanks :)
Thanks Mark, just updated! Honestly, i got more than my moneys worth out of this engine back when it was 100$, You being back to supporting b3d and making it maybe even shine with libSGD is an absolute Legend move!
Absolute legend!
Wow Mark. Thank you!!!
